“Bitter Herbs” - Lent IV
Bitter herbs, like parsley, taste sweet at first, but then leave a bitter aftertaste. So does sin. Bitter herbs remind us about the slavery to sin and its acrid smell. Judas and Peter experienced it. Judas could never rid himself of it, but Peter did when he saw his Lord’s look and wept bitterly (Luke 22:61, 62).
