Pontius Pilate asked this powerful question more than 2000 years ago at Jesus’ trial. Today in colleges and universities, in virtually every scholarly discipline, the same question is asked: “How do we know/discover what is true and false in paleontology, physics, political science, etc.?” For the last 150 years questions about learning/discerning the truth have been replaced by a declaration that there is no such thing as truth.
